2nd Grade News

Final Tests

During the week of May 24th, we will be having some final tests. Rest assured, we will still be very busy for the remainder of the school year in preparation for Third Grade! Test Schedule:

  • Tuesday, May 25th - Book Report due; Final Cumulative Math test; Social Studies test, Unit 4 (know all terms and people; terms are in boldface print in the beginning of lessons in the book.)

  • Wednesday, May 26th - last Science test, Ch. 9. We will be using Ch. 10, but there will be no test on it.

  • Thursday, May 27th - Family Life, Ch. 9 & 10 and final; English final test-know all parts of speech, four kinds of sentences. Use Voyages book as a guide.

Other May Activities

We are reviewing in class; also, we are having practices for the Spelling Bee, which will be in the Hall on June 9th at approximately 8:15 AM. The class picnic will follow. Please see the permission slip going home on May 24th for details. Chaperones and drivers must have had Virtus Training, been fingerprinted, and must have a current CA driver's license and registration of the vehicle on file in the school office.

Fathers' Day Mass

Our second grade class is participating in our last day of school/Fathers' Day Mass at 9 AM on June 10th.

PLEASE have your child dressed in their First Holy Communion outfits, and PLEASE be on time for school at the usual time, 7:50 AM. Report cards and class awards are given out before Mass.

Dads sit behind the second grade during the Mass; we sit together as a class. However, after the awards ceremony in Church which follows Mass, the second graders return to our classroom to pick up their report cards, certificates and Fathers' Day gifts.

Dismissal is approximately between 10:30 AM and 10:45 AM. There is no daycare that day (June 10th, Thursday) Thank you!.

Thanks for This Year

I will really miss this class. They have been a warm and loving group of children, thanks to you, their parents. Thank you for all your support this year!

Summer Enrichment Program

My annual Summer Enrichment Program is taking place from June 28th through July 9th. There are a few spots available if you are interested. Have a wonderful summer, and keep reading, writing, and practicing those Math facts!
