Overview

Celebrations throughout the liturgical year of the Church take many forms – daily Mass, Sacraments, devotions, and various other rites that flow from our Sunday celebration of the Eucharist as a community. Our liturgical life nourishes our religious faith, binding us to our heavenly Father and to each other.

As we engage in parish life, there will be times when we need to be ministered to by fellow parishioners, and other times when we bring our own unique gifts to share with others.  St. Paul speaks about how the Spirit gives each and everyone of us special gifts - these gifts are called charisms.  Everyone has received gifts from the Lord that were given for the good of the community. We encourage you to prayerfully consider how we can meet some of your needs and how God is calling you to meet the needs of others.

If you are a minister, please remember to send your availability by the 20th of each month to our ministry contact. The schedules are printed by the 20th every month and are available on the website, and hard copies in the Parish Center and Sacristy.

Altar Servers

Young people from the Catholic School or the Parish School of Religion, can serve at our Lord’s Table, beginning in grade 5. They will receive special training to assist the priest/deacon in the celebration of the Mass and at special liturgies.  For more information about this ministry, contact  the Parish Office at (626) 915-7873.

Children’s Liturgy

At the 10:00 AM Mass every Sunday, volunteer lay presiders share and discuss Sunday readings in an age-appropriate way to children in 1st-5th grade. Children are dismissed just after opening prayers and go to the Conference Room to hear the Word proclaimed in a simplified way. The children rejoin the congregation and the Mass during the Preparation of the Gifts. No registration is required and it is free to all families.

If you would like to volunteer for this ministry or want more information about how you and your family can participate, please contact the Faith Formation Office at
626-332-5822.

Environment Ministry

The Environment Ministry decorates the altar and church throughout the year and especially the high liturgical seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter.  We team up from making floral arrangements to sewing, banners and preparing various decors.  All those inclined and interested in enhancing our worship environment are encouraged to participate.  For more information on how you can participate in this ministry, please contact the Parish Center at 626-915-7873.

Eucharistic Ministers

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are members of the parish who serve the Body and Blood of Christ to the assembly during Mass. To be an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, you must be a Roman Catholic who has received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. Specially trained Eucharistic Ministers bring Holy Communion to the sick or home-bound parishioners on Sundays or as requested. Special Liturgies

As your church family, we want to celebrate with you significant milestones such as a special anniversary or Quinceanera.  For assistance in planning these special liturgies please contact the Parish Center at 626-915-7873.

Ushers

As ushers and greeters we extend Christ’s love, warmth and hospitality to newcomers and parishioners arriving at St. Louise de Marillac Church for Mass. Ushers are men and women who assist with seating and facilitate the collection and communion aspects of Mass. Greeters are individuals and often entire families who join together with the Holy Spirit to welcome our community into our sacred place of worship.
