The Faith Formation Office helps form the faith of members of the St. Louise de Marillac Community. It provides ongoing catechesis for grades Preschool through 8th grade and their families. We believe in lifelong catechesis, and use a variety of resources to journey with children and their families through a faith-filled life.

PRESCHOOL & KINDERGARTEN (3 through 5 year-olds)

This program will operate as a non-gathered ministry and will empower parents to interact with their children while building a strong foundation of faith.  Families will participate in activities that are directed to develop the domestic church and empower parents as the primary catechists.  Catechist Mentors will work with each family and their young disciples.  The Preschool and Kinder program serves our young disciples who are 3, 4, and 5 years old by September 1 of the current year.

ELEMENTARY (Grades 1st through 5th)

Our Elementary program provides catechesis that will enrich the young disciples’ understanding of our Catholic faith.  This program will operate as a non-gathered ministry and will empower parents to interact with their children while building a strong foundation of faith.  The young disciples will have the opportunity to participate in faith-based activities that will help them prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, or allow them to continue to grow in faith once they have received these sacraments.  Families will participate in activities that are directed to develop the domestic church and empower parents as the primary catechists. Catechist Mentors will work with each family and their young disciples.  The Elementary program serves disciples in grades 1-5.

Sacrament Preparation / Eucharist & Reconciliation

Our young disciples in this program journey through a two-year process as they begin to understand their faith and then focus on the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.  This program will operate as a non-gathered ministry and will empower parents to interact with their children while building a strong foundation of faith.  The young disciples will have the opportunity to participate in faith-based activities that will help them prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.  Families will participate in activities that will help develop the domestic church and empower parents as the primary catechists.  Catechist Mentors will work with each family and their young disciples.  The Elementary Sacrament Prep program serves the disciples in grades 1-5.

Sacrament Preparation / Baptism Children who are not baptized and are at least 7 years of age register for regular Religious Education Classes to receive religious instruction and be with their peers.  During this initiation process godparents are invited to walk the faith journey with them. It is a 2 year journey leading to reception of the Sacrament of Baptism with the children invited to come back to Religious Education classes to continue their faith development as they grow in understanding of what it means to be catholic and have a relationship with Jesus Christ. For specific information regarding sacrament preparation, contact the Faith Formation Office at [626] 332-5822.
